If demons do not eat people – demons will become approximately at the level of animals, and vice versa, the smarter the person whom they ate – the more they themselves become smarter and more agile.

Hence the need for eating people, and not any of them, but conscious. Therefore, when the promise was concluded, Captain Ratri handed over his colleagues for breeding (probably some other people). And Ratri himself and his entire future clan put a gatekeeper between the worlds. And the whole plot passes about 1000 years after the contract – 2045-2049 according to the human calendar.

But his younger brother, Peter Ratri, having read the same documents, on the contrary, was filled with the dedication of the first gatekeeper, his willpower, that he was able to make such a complex but saving decision.
